The would-be car burglar is caught after he fails to steal the vehicle. He’s chased down, tackled and arrested.
Greg Ross of CBC reports an attempted auto theft in Brampton. Three men in masks broke into the house of a car owner and took the keys. The two men flee. Third man gets in a vehicle on the driveway, but he can’t get it started. Family members pin him to the ground until the police arrive after he has fled.
Police say that early Friday morning, Brampton police were contacted by a family who intervened in order to halt a vehicle theft.
Peel Police responded around 2:30 am to a report of an accident at a house near Castlemore Road & Goreway Drive.
Three men broke into the house and stole car keys. They fled the scene on foot. The man who had the car keys then tried to steal the car from the driveway.
Residents of the house chased the man down the street and tackled, pinning him until the police arrived.
Gurbaj, 18, a family member says that car thefts are dangerous and police need to do more.
Sanghera said to CBC Toronto Friday, “I wish no one had to go through this.” You must take care and be careful.

Sanghera ran down to his basement when he heard the loud bang. He saw three men in masks inside. Sanghera said that he was frozen when the men began to run and chased after them.
He was holding a pair of keys that were taken from a box designed to block the signals sent by keyfobs.
As I walk over, I’m screamed and praying that my dad and brother hear me. “They do hear me,” he said. He said.
Two men are running away as one man struggles to enter an Audi. Sanghera’s brother stopped him using a different set of keys. It had an antitheft lock. The man got in the car but was unable to drive off and seemed to have locked himself inside.
The man began walking after getting out of his vehicle.
Sanghera replied, “He knows he doesn’t get it. He tried to run away. “.
Sanghera’s father and brother pursued and restrained the man until police arrived.
Const. Sarah Patten stated that four cars were stolen from the same street in August of 2022 to August 2023.
A 25-year old Toronto man has been charged with one count each of burglary and theft exceeding $5,000.
