One resident is rescued by crews who respond to an apartment fire with three alarms in Windsor Mill
Bashir Barak said his wife, who was worried about something outside as the fires spread through the Tuscany Woods complex at Windsor Mill in Windsor Mill, interrupted his early morning prayers.
Barak said, “When I went to the roof of the building and saw that there was a fire the firefighters who arrived told me I should take my family. So I did. I then took my children and sat down in my vehicle.”
As people were spreading the message to leave, firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 6 o’clock. They found heavy smoke.
Firefighters rescued a resident of one of the apartments, said Lieutenant Travis Francis from the Baltimore County Fire Department. “The residents were transported to hospital without any life-threatening injuries.” It is believed to have been smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but investigators believe that it began on the second-floor and spread up to the attic.
The fire, smoke, and water that were used to put out the flames caused damage to 30 apartments. This forced dozens of people to find shelter in other places, including Barak and his family, whose children ranged from six years to 18 months.
Barak said, “My children were screaming because they were scared and it was so early in the morning,” “I had not thought about what I saw inside my apartment.” My only thought was about my children.
