A Weslaco woman claims a local contractor took her money and didn’t complete the roofing project.
During recent storms, Rosalia Marroquin’s home was damaged. When she sought repair services, she chose Sharp Edges Construction’s contractor and owner.
Marroquin said the living room needed some paint and the floor…he did a good job, so I knew he knew what he was doing.
The problems began with Marroquin’s roof, which also needed to be repaired.
Before Marco Solis could finish repairing her roof, another storm came, causing damage inside her home.
This is when it rained. It rained and now it’s wet. He didn’t finish, as you can see, and here in this room as well. Look at how he left the wall,” Marroquin explained.
Solis came back and covered her home’s roof with plastic to protect it from the rain, but it took him a whole month to finish repairing the roof.
He didn’t reply to my calls,” Marroquin said.
Now that the roof is done, Marroquin says she hasn’t been able to get in touch with him about fixing the interior damage.
Due to the thunderstorm, Solis wasn’t able to cover it up in time, so it began leaking on the inside. “I had to wait about a month before I started removing and continuing with the shingles again.” It’s not a good idea to remove shingles yet because it’s going to rain more and I’ll have to deal with it.”
He explained that more rain was forecast, and he did not want her home to sustain further damage. At the moment, Marroquin has one request.
He needs to send someone responsible to finish what he left unfinished,” Marroquin said.
Due to a miscommunication via text, Marroquin thought Solis wasn’t willing to repair the inside of her home, but they have now reached an agreement that Solis will do so.
If there is unexpected damage, the Better Business Bureau recommends getting everything in writing and making sure there are conditions in the contract that explain what will happen.
