Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses, who defeated the hosts Australia 3-1 in their World Cup semifinal matchup became first English team since 1966 to make it there.

Hollie Bone in Sydney and Jeremy Armstrong report on England’s fans celebrating like they were in 1966 when the Lionesses defeated Australia at home to make the World Cup Final.

Sarina Weigman and her team secured their place as history makers and silenced 70,000 Australians with three goals each from Ella Toone and Lauren Hemp.

Scenes of joy ensued as Rachel Daly jumped into the arms Jill Scott who was commentating the match on the sidelines of the field at the time of the final whistle. While the England players danced and sang together, Millie Bright lifted Sarina up in front of their fans and families.

Bright, who turned 30 on Monday waved to her parents Steven and Nicola, who travelled halfway around the world to cheer on their children.

There is a large family gathering here. Millie’s sisters, and three of my grandsons have all come over. “You feel proud every day because these are your kids.” Nicola from Sheffield said.

After their Euro 2022 victory, she admitted that it was a “fairytale” to see the Lionesses reach their second major championship final in just two years. You won’t have time to think about their accomplishments until the end of the tournament.” Sarina stated.

The first World Cup senior final in 50 years will be broadcast on Sunday morning, with millions of viewers tuning in.

We’re all celebrating right now, before tomorrow we have to start again. Sarina said.

She replied: “It’s great to be at the final.” “I’ve played in both of the tournaments I’ve attended, but nothing is taken for granted. “.

Many great teams have been knocked off the finals because it is a difficult task. “I know that it’s really special, and it also feels like it.”

Lauren, 23 years old, said in a tribute to Alessia: “What an amazing feeling. We will try again Sunday. I’m tired, but it was a great experience. “Every player’s dream is to reach the World Cup Final.”

Sarina declared: “We wouldn’t give it away!” Sarina said: “We weren’t going to give this away.”

Julian Pottle sat in fancy dress with Helen from Leeds and his son Charlie (16) and Summer (12 years old). He is a QPR supporter and an auctioneer.

Julian replied, “We urgently need tickets to the Final.” My daughter wanted to wear the England shirt at school but was told to wear Australia.

Helen joked that “even though the Aussies fans stopped singing, we kept singing”

Imogen Davidson is a Manchester accountant with two children aged 16 and 19.

Our Aussie supporters are amazing. The fans from Australia came to see us and then conga outside while TV crews lined up around the world for interviews. It was an amazing atmosphere.

Stuart Fox is a project manager who was born in London and now lives in Sydney. He said, “It’s a great first goal.” Top bins are being sent to England. “I have been living in Australia for 18 years but never got the opportunity to represent Australia.”

Antony Pinshaw, a Matildas supporter aged 36 said: “This has been an amazing tournament for Australia but England dominated them and they could not keep up.

Tony Gustavsson, the Australian manager, congratulated England on their performance. He said, “We faced a top-notch team with an outstanding coach (Sarina) in England.” This is not the end for Australia or women’s soccer. It’s a start.

England’s “superfans” expressed their pride as they reflected back on the trip of a life time to Oz. We visited the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Opera House in the last month. Kangaroos, koalas, and other marine animals were also seen.

Sarah Breckon (55), who is following the Lionesses on Twitter, also enjoyed a scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef and helicopter rides with her father Alan Breckon (77).

Sarah from Taunton in Somerset said that she had tickets to the final. We watched Australia’s quarter-final against France in an Irish bar in Brisbane surrounded by Aussies.

Julia Tibbs (54), a painter, decorator and member of the walking football team with her, commented, “The colors of the Great Barrier Reef are amazing.” We came here to watch the World Cup, and we made sure to enjoy it. We saw a huge fish named Wally, also known as the Maori Wrasse.

Five years ago I made a promise to myself: I’d live my life fully. “This has been an important part of my promise.”

If I were 16 years older, I’d move to Australia. In Brisbane, we got up close with kangaroos and I received a kiss from a Koala. “It has been an amazing trip.” Alan, who is a member of the England Over 75 Walking Football team, said: “I’d move here now if I was 16 years younger.”

Nottingham Girls’ High School PE teacher, Kate Taylor, was wet on a speedboat trip in Sydney’s Darling Harbour but has not missed any of England’s World Cup campaign.

She added, “Thanks for the England team we made lifelong friendships and experienced experiences that we will always remember.”

Claire Coyles (34), a Lioness fan, joked that the boat trip was “absolutely soaked, but worth it” while she and her friends were on an Australian trip for PS12,000. “I was there at the Euro Final, and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.” The experience was amazing, with wonderful people. We all share a common interest – England’s team.
